Brentwood Theatre - Stephen Moyer, Patron
The Brentwood Theatre is a local theatre located in Essex, England that aims to provide the Brentwood community with a vibrant area of performing arts. It took over 15 years of campaigning and fundraising by a dedicated core of theatre followers to open the Brentwood Theatre in December 1993. So it was no surprise that they would once again turn to the community when the time came for the theatre to be rebuilt.
Once the rebuilding fund had began, Stephen Moyer, a native of Brentwood, Essex, couldn’t help but support it. Thanks to the efforts of their beloved patron, “Vampire Bill,” played by Stephen Moyer on True Blood, the theatre got international attention to the point where the “donating a brick in the wall” campaign allowed the creation of an “American wall.”
To celebrate Stephen Moyer’s 40th birthday, True Blood fans mobilized and raised £1, 500 for transportation costs, enabling hundreds of local children to experience theatre firsthand, regardless of their circumstance. Since then, the fund has been officially renamed the Moyer Children’s Theatre Fund and continues to raise money to support children in attending shows at the Brentwood Theatre. The fund also helps provide safe transportation for the children to and from shows at the theatre.
